SATURDAY, OCTOBER 10TH: GATES OPEN AT 5:00 PM, TIME TRIALS AT 6:00 PM AND RACES START AT 8:00 PM.
Illinois Vintage Racing and Sycamore Speedway are proud to announce the first ever Illinois Vintage Stock Car Dirt Nationals with a purse well over $6,000 not including contingency awards.
The Event will be held Saturday October 10, 2009. The Feature event will start 30 Cars, just like the old days, and will be run in two segments. At the Halfway mark, the race will stop for 5 minutes on the front straightaway where the fans can enjoy watching the old school style pit stops. The drivers and crews will be allowed to change tires, gears or whatever can be completed during the 5 minute stop. The race will be restarted with the lineup as it was at the end of lap 25.
Preliminary events will include 2 qualifying laps per car (with a $100 bonus for fast time). A 6 car 6 lap Trophy Dash, 15 Lap Race of Champions, Semi-Feature and a WSPY Radio Celebrity grudge race.
Sycamore Speedway is considered the home track of Illinois Vintage Racing. The track is the smoothest and best prepared track that the club races on during the traveling Vintage series. The Owner’s and Management at Sycamore have worked hand and hand with Art Fehrman to make this first ever event take place. The ticket prices for the Nationals will remain the same as any regular event. The track is located at 50W086 Route 64 in Maple Park, IL 60151. Basic Rules for the Nationals are:
- 1972 Bodies & Older
- 3000 Lb minimum weight
- No Aluminum Engine Blocks
- Aluminum Heads are Allowed
- No Wings
- Any 11” Tire & 12" Rim max width.
- Engine Set Back more than 6 inches Add 50lbs Bolted forward of Cross Member
Engine Set Back more than 12 inches Add 100lbs Bolted forward of Cross Member
- No Super Modified Bodies; No Shorten, Chopped, Narrowed Roofs
The 50 Lap Race will pay $1,000 to win and $100 to start.
$100 Bonuses will be awarded for the following:

- Best appearing car
- Best appearing Pit Crew
- Hard Charger Award
- Hard Luck Award
- Traveled the farthest
Registration Fee by September 1st will be $25. Included will be 1 pit pass worth $30 at no extra charge. Registration on Race Day will be $50 and will not include a pit pass. On Race Day Pit Passes will cost $30.
The Illinois Vintage Racing Club will compete at Sycamore Speedway June 6th, July 22nd and August 29th. It is recommended that anyone coming from out of state or anyone who has never raced at Sycamore, come and race with us to check out the 3/8 mile dirt track and gear up for the Dirt Nationals.
